EWS-KT Expands Collaboration with Solidaridad

We are excited to announce a strategic collaboration between East-West Seed Knowledge Transfer Foundation, Solidaridad, and East-West Seed under a recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
Executed on 23 June at the SeedNL Annual Event in the Netherlands, the MOU aims to support smallholder farmers to grow vegetables more sustainably and profitably, while improving livelihoods, market access, and food security.
The three organizations bring complementary strengths to the collaboration: EWS-KT’s technical and practical agronomic expertise and track record of successful farmer training, Solidaridad’s deep experience in sustainable and inclusive supply chain development, and East-West Seed’s expertise in high-quality vegetable seeds adapted to local farming conditions and market needs.
The MOU builds on previous partnerships among the parties in Bangladesh, India, and Nigeria, with support from the Dutch government. This new collaboration will explore opportunities to develop additional initiatives in these three countries, as well as in Ghana, Senegal, Tanzania, and Uganda.
Shared areas of focus include:
- Supporting farmers to improve their productivity and income
- Training farmers in business skills and climate-smart agriculture, including improved soil health, water management, and responsible crop protection practices
- Supporting crop and income diversification
- Strengthening household food and nutrition security
- Strengthening farmer organizations
- Improving farmers’ access to markets
- Promoting food safety and quality at both the production and market levels
- Facilitating access to finance for farmers and for other supply chain actors, such as micro-, small, and medium-sized enterprises
- Fostering local innovation and entrepreneurship
- Developing strong, knowledge-based seed and agricultural input markets
We look forward to working together with Solidaridad and East-West Seed to help build stronger and more resilient vegetable systems and create lasting value for farming communities.
