Sharing Knowledge with NGO Trainers in Cambodia

SIEM REAP, CAMBODIA – Nov Menghort, a Technical Assistant Manager with East-West Seed Knowledge Transfer Foundation (EWS-KT) in Cambodia, recently lent his expertise and experience to a training-of-trainers event on climate-smart agricultural practices in Siem Reap.
Joining presenters from World Vegetable Center and iDE at the multiday training, Menghort focused on cultivation methods for four crops—yardlong bean, cucumber, hot pepper, and eggplant. He walked participants through all the stages for each crop, from land preparation, installation of drip irrigation, and seedling production to pest and disease management, post-harvest handling practices, and financial analysis of the crop results.

The event was held by local nonprofit organization Rural Economic & Agriculture Development Agency (READA), with support from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). READA is part of a network of NGOs that support smallholder farmers in Cambodia’s vegetable sector. In preparation for an expanded initiative with farmers, READA organized this training to build the capacity of 19 of its agricultural technicians to become effective trainers and community leaders.
EWS-KT is pleased to participate in trainings like this that enable us to share our knowledge with like-minded organizations for the benefit of smallholder farmers.
