EWS-KT Philippines Learning Site Certified by PhilGAP

We are pleased to announce that East-West Seed Knowledge Transfer Philippines’ learning site, called the KT-Techno Hub, is now officially PhilGAP certified!

PhilGAP certification is a formal recognition given to farms that adhere to Good Agricultural Practices as outlined in the Philippine National Standard, focused on ensuring food safety, food quality, workers’ welfare, and environmental sustainability. The KT-Techno Hub passed the PhilGAP evaluation this month with a 100% rating.

Established in July 2020 in Bukidnon, Mindanao, the KT-Techno Hub is a training center that showcases profitable and sustainable farming techniques. It offers practical training in vegetable production for students, out-of-school youth, smallholder farmers, agricultural extension staff, and other individuals.

In 2022, the KT-Techno Hub was accredited as an official Learning Site for Agriculture (LSA) by the Agricultural Training Institute. As an LSA, the KT-Techno Hub stands as a training destination for farmers in the region. PhilGAP certification adds to the stature of the learning site as a model for Good Agricultural Practices.

The efforts and dedication of the Knowledge Transfer team in Mindanao—KT-Techno Hub Farm Manager Arnee L. Abinguna, Farm Operator Aguilo Lugmay, and Farm Trainees Ian Mark Salaum, Edmar Gawahan, and Joseph Lubaynon—have been instrumental in elevating the the KT-Techno Hub to its current esteemed status in just 3 years of operation.
