About East-West Seed Knowledge Transfer Foundation India:
EWSKT India has been working with the smallholder farmers of 6 states of India since 2016. We have directly trained 45,000+ farmers, establishing 1,400+ demonstration plots. In 2021, 34% of the farmers we trained were women. Since 2016, we have assisted farmers across India to produce over 700 tons of vegetables, with an average net profit of INR 17,260 per crop cycle in 2021 (per 500-square-metre plot). In addition, we have educated 1,00,000 farmers through our digital media platforms. We are currently working with the smallholder farmers of Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Assam and Telangana.

Center of Excellence for Vegetable production:
EWSKT India directly trains farmers through demonstration plots, learning plots and other training. In 2022, EWSKT India inaugurated their first Center of Excellence (CoE) for vegetable production at Koenjhar, Odisha. The CoE is a place for training farmers on vegetable cultivation and action research of vegetable production. The CoE is designed to provide knowledge of vegetable production techniques through classroom and hands-on training. The CoE provides hands-on experience on nursery structures for seedling production, vegetable cultivation layout, land preparation, vermicomposting unit and water management. Apart from farmers, the CoE is visited by Agri students, NGOs, corporate companies and other stakeholders interested in the vegetable sector.

Our independent management, legal status, and governance ensure that our work is exclusively focused on benefiting the smallholder farmers we work with. We use field-based approaches to expose farmers to simple but effective agronomic techniques. Our training activities ensure that farmers understand the business aspects of farming as well as the environmental benefits of sustainable production practices. With millions of smallholder farmers struggling to earn a decent living, we aim to position farmers on a path to sustainable and profitable change and to stimulate competitive agri-input markets.
