Crop Advisor Trainer (CAT) Course Builds Professionals’ Capacity in India

Our current Crop Advisor Trainer (CAT) online certification course has a special audience in India. Nearly 130 Business Development Officers and Marketing Sales Trainees from East-West Seed India registered for the course to sharpen their advisory skills and deepen their expertise in improved farming practices.
Available in 12 languages, our 8-week CAT certification course consists of 32 modules in crop economics, crop production, crop environment, and crop protection.
The East-West Seed staff members participating in the current CAT training interact with smallholder farmers across India in the course of their work, and the CAT certification will enable them to better advise farmers who may be unfamiliar with improved agricultural techniques or encountering challenges with their crops.
While this particular CAT course is building the capacity of East-West Seed staff, the three certification courses that make up our General Vegetable Production program—Vegetable Production Beginner, Agrobusiness, and CAT—are generally open to anyone who is interested in learning more about vegetable production.
We are excited to follow this cohort through their CAT certification as they learn new knowledge and skills to help them enhance farmers’ livelihoods.
UPDATE, November 11, 2025: All but one of the East-West Seed India CAT participants successfully completed the CAT certification program. With their new skills, they are now ready to empower farmers with better techniques and provide more informed and practical advice and solutions to crop challenges.
