Zero Hunger Private Sector Pledge

Posted On: November 24, 2023

We are proud to play a part in the Zero Hunger Private Sector Pledge! Watch the video to find out more about our role in the Pledge and the impact we are having in Uganda and South Sudan.

The Zero Hunger Pledge emerged from the 2021 UN Food Systems Summit in recognition of the need for collaboration across the private and public sectors to fight hunger and accelerate progress toward UN Sustainable Development Goal 2 (Zero Hunger).

East-West Seed joined the Pledge in 2022, committing to US$18 million over 5 years in support of livelihood and nutritional security. As East-West Seed’s implementing partner for this effort, East-West Seed Knowledge Transfer Foundation is training smallholder farmers in sustainable vegetable production techniques that help farmers cope with climate change and that increase food security for communities.

On 22 November, David Baguma, Project Lead for EWS-KT in Uganda, presented this video and more about our work at the “From Pledge to Action” event, which marked the Pledge’s first accountability report on this important initiative to end global hunger.
