Umar Farouk Mohammed

Umar Farouk Mohammed is a Technical Field Officer adept in vegetable production and all aspects of crop management to ensure high-quality crop yield on open field and in Greenhouses, demonstrating over six (6) years of industry performance.

Umar joined the EWS-KT Ghana team as a Technical Field Officer in 2023. Umar began his career as a beekeeper before completing his Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture Technology, specializing in Mechanization and Irrigation technology from University for Development Studies (Ghana). Umar worked with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture of Ghana in 2019 on the flagship project “Planting for Food and Jobs” as a National Service Personnel. Before KT, Umar was an Agriculture Drone Pilot with SKT Aeroshutter where he spent most of his time in Ivory Coast spraying Banana and Cocoa Plantations using Drones.

Umar holds a joint certificate in Greenhouse Technology from Agritop Limited and Ohawu Agriculture College (Ghana). Umar has hands-on training from AgroStudies, an international agricultural training center (Israel) in Horticulture Science. He also holds a Certificate in Drone Piloting from SKT Aeroshutter, Ghana

Umar is currently the Lead person for the Green Manure Project in Ghana. His passion for this project (Nitrogen fixation of some selected indigenous cover crops) has led him to start his MPhil in Crop Science, specializing in Agronomy at University of Energy and Natural Resources (Ghana).
