BONO REGION, GHANA – Congratulations to Ramid Saana, Technical Field Officer with East-West Seed Knowledge Transfer Foundation in Ghana! Ramid was honored by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture last week as Best Private Extension Officer in the Berekum West District of Bono Region.

Ramid is part of the original EWS-KT Ghana team and works directly with smallholder farmers to improve their agricultural and business skills, crop yields, and income. EWS-KT has only been working in this area for a year and has already made a big impact.

Ghana’s 40th National Farmers Day was held on 8 November, and Ramid received his award at the Berekum West National Farmers Day event.

Prizes were also awarded to the district’s best overall farmer, best woman farmer, best youth farmer, and best government extension officer. Each farmer competing in the event displayed harvested items from their field. While roots, tubers, and fruits clearly outnumbered vegetables in the displays, we are optimistic that—thanks to the dedication of Ramid and the entire EWS-KT Ghana team—the amount of vegetables will steadily increase.
