As part of its collaborative partnership with Koppert Foundation, East-West Seed Knowledge Transfer Foundation initiated trials in August 2023 on bacterial wilt, a serious threat for tomato growers. Carried out with support from Koppert India, this action research tested the effect of Koppert biological solutions on bacterial wilt in two tomato varieties commonly grown in India.

The results are now in: the biological strategy resulted in 60-70% higher yields, while costing 30% less than farmers’ conventional methods. Read more here.

These results open doors to more effective and less costly treatments for tomato farmers facing crop loss associated with bacterial wilt. The research will be repeated during the next growing season. If the outcome is similar, this biological approach will be included in EWS-KT protocols for smallholder farmers.
