From Our Executive Director

I am pleased to share with you the 2024 Annual Report from East-West Seed Knowledge Transfer Foundation. We directly trained 150,629 smallholder farmers in improved agricultural practices last year, positioning vegetable production as a vibrant business opportunity for rural communities.

In addition to catalyzing local economic growth, our work is boosting women’s financial capacity and preparing the next generation of vegetable farmers for sustainable livelihoods. Nearly 45% of the farmers we trained last year were women, and almost 50% were under the age of 35.

We continued to prioritize climate-resilient farming techniques, which better enable farmers to engage in year-round production and adapt to challenging environmental conditions. We also increased our focus on farm business planning for expanded market integration and began piloting certification programs to facilitate farmers’ access to finance.

Co-investment from our valued partners enables us to scale up our field-based training and digital farming resources and to reach farmers in new regions. Despite the changing landscape of international development support, we remain fully committed to supporting farmers to earn more income and supply more vegetables to local and regional markets.

I hope you enjoy the report.

Very best regards,

Stuart Morris
Executive Director
