Knowledge Transfer Manager
Scope
The Knowledge Transfer Manager for Ghana will play a key role in setting up the EWS-KT team and operation in Ghana, in close collaboration with the Program Manager.
Overall Purpose of the Job
Once EWS-KT Ghana is up and running, the Knowledge Transfer Manager will be responsible for the operation and management of the EWS-KT Ghana team, including the following positions: Technical Field Officers, Finance Officer, Team Lead, Technical Specialist, Digital Specialist, and M&E Officer (to be recruited). The Knowledge Transfer Manager will provide strategic direction and will support all pre-commercial project activities of EWS-KT in close cooperation with the company and project partners. This position will ensure that all knowledge transfer activities align to EWS-KT’s objective of increasing the profitability and sustainability of vegetable production for smallholder farmers.
Key Result Areas and Essential Tasks/ Responsibilities
Setup of EWS-KT operation in Ghana
- Map the agricultural profile of Ghana
- Support the identification of potential working areas
- Support the recruitment of a local team
- Lead the setup of the learning site and the training of field staff
- Adapt training materials to the local situation and needs
- Network with potential partners and stakeholders
- Determine rollout strategy
Management of EWS-KT Ghana
- Supervise operations Analyze information and processes and develop more effective or efficient processes and strategies
- Hire, train, supervise, motivate, and coach the EWS-KT Ghana team
- Monitor and assess the performance of team members
- Ensure that the team follows EWS-KT policies and procedures
- Develop and oversee the use of budgets and ensure that the finance department receives required information and reports
- Cooperate closely with the global team and other Knowledge Transfer Managers to ensure the benefits of sharing experience and information
- Ensure EWS-KT Ghana’s participation in global events and relevant trainings
- Other duties to ensure the overall health and success of EWS-KT
Development of project proposals
- Work closely with global team to identify project opportunities
- Support the development of concept notes and project proposals
- Maintain documentation on the proposal process
implementation of projects and knowledge transfer activities - Plan and coordinate project activities according to the project plan and within the agreed-upon time frame and budget
- Make regular visits to project areas to maintain an overview of all project activities
- Generate reports and present information
Stakeholder engagement
- Organize, monitor, and improve relationships with stakeholders
- Participate in relevant networks and events
- Proactively promote the impact of EWS-KT and advocate for vegetable production as an income opportunity
- Foster constructive working relationship
Qualifications
- BSc or MSc in agriculture, horticulture, economics, business administration, development,
or another relevant field - 3 years of proven experience as a Program Manager, Coordinator, or other managerial
position - Solid leadership and organizational skills
- Thorough understanding of project/program management techniques and methods
- Good understanding of vegetable production and markets in Ghana
- Track record in training trainers and farmers
- Proven experience working with NGOs, donors, and government
- Analytical mind with problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace (formerly G Suite)
- International work experience is an advantage
Work Relationships
At the setup stage, the Knowledge Transfer Manager will report to the Program Manager and liaise closely with the EWS-KT Africa Head. Subsequent reporting will be to the EWS-KT Africa Head. The position will work closely with the EWS-KT Director and the global team, including the Technical Support Hub and the data and digital media teams.
